1.Sensex jumps to 13-month high of 15,670. BSE 30-share index surged by 282.35 points to more than a 13-month high of 15,670.31, boosted by India Inc's excellent first-quarter performance. Excellent Q1 earnings by most corporates raised market expectations about an encouraging outlook for Indian companies in the current financial year. 2.Private airlines on Friday decided to suspend all their domestic flights on August 18 to press for a bailout package from the government in the form of lower taxes and airport charges. The decision to suspend flights was taken at a meeting of the Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA), the apex body of private air carriers held. 3.Software giant Infosys in Bangalore will on Friday become the first private establishment to get the security cover of CISF. the paramilitary force which currently provides security to only government establishments. Paramilitary force will deploy 101 of its armed personnel -- headed by an assistant commandant to guard Infosys in the IT city. 4.The HRD ministry has proposed major changes, i.e. linking the cooking cost to the price index of food items, in the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme so that it runs smoothly.
